Brian Barrett, Foundations and Social Advocacy Department, had his paper (with Jim Hordern, University of Bath, U.K.), titled “Basil Bernstein, open concepts, and the possibility of change,” published in a special issue of Pedagogía y Saberes (65, pp. 3-19) dedicated to Basil Bernstein's sociology of education. The article is based on a paper that Barrett and Hordern presented virtually in April 2026 at a colloquium on Basil Bernstein and the Challenges of Education in the 21st Century held at the University of San Andrés, Argentina, to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of Bernstein's birth.
