Financial Aid Office

Welcome to the Financial Aid Office at SUNY Cortland. It is our belief that a post-secondary education is one of the most important investments you will make.

We provide a broad range of financial services, advice and education to make your education more affordable. Additionally, all prospective, incoming and continuing students are assigned a financial aid advisor.

2024-2025 FAFSA Application Delays

The Department of Education has delayed processing 2024-2025 FAFSA applications due to the FAFSA Simplification Act. The changes are intended to make applying for federal student aid easier, however, the rollout has resulted in delays as institutions identify and resolve system issues.

SUNY Cortland anticipates being able to provide financial aid eligibility by late April 2024, to those who have completed the FAFSA. If you have not filed the 2024-2025 FAFSA and intend to, we encourage you to complete the application asap.

We are here to support students through this process as we navigate FAFSA system delays and work to ensure timely and accurate financial aid notifications.

For incoming freshman and transfer students, the enrollment deposit deadline has been moved to June 1.
