Kevin Dames, Bryanne Bellovary, Jason Parks, Kinesiology Department, and first author Aaron Jones '23, M '25 had an article published in the International Journal of Sports Science & Coaching. The project, titled "Does limb specialization in track and field introduce asymmetry in dynamic stability?," explores unilateral hop landing kinetics in male DIII track athletes against a control group of active males. The athletes’ skilled limb in their event (jump, hurdle, or sprint start) demonstrated better dynamic stability in hop landings than their non-preferred limb, and these preferences did not align with their preferred limb for kicking. Their findings challenge the practice of using self-reported kicking limb dominance to allocate limbs for testing in an athletic cohort whose sport does not involve kicking.
