The residence life and housing staff want you as the parent and family of your student to know what is happening while they are away at college. Sending your child to college is a time of transition for everyone, and we will work hard to make it a smooth transition.

Move Back On Campus

Have you previously lived on campus and would like to return? Complete the wait list form.

  1. Log into myRedDragon and go the student tab.
  2. Look for the Residence Life and Housing section; select the Housing Process and Information link.
  3. Go to Forms and select Wait List Housing Request for the appropriate semester.

Filling out Forms

Many of our forms are found through myRedDragon, including the New Student Preference form and RSP form for returning students. Follow these steps to locate the forms:

  1. Log in to myRedDragon
  2. Select the Student tab
  3. In the Residence Life and Housing section, open Housing Process and Information (view your room assignment)
  4. Browse to the Forms tab to view the forms list

For Parents of International Students

Supporting your student’s education, especially at a college located in a different country and culture, can be exciting and concerning. You can rest assured that SUNY Cortland faculty members, staff, students and programs are focused on your student’s well-being. Housing Requirement

Freshmen/Freshmen Transfers

Required to live on campus for four semesters or two full years.

Transfers

Required to live on campus for two semesters or one full year.

Automatic approval to live off campus*

  • You are over the age of 21 by August 31 for the fall semester and January 15 for the spring semester
  • You commute from home (50 mile radius is considered local; home address will be verified)
  • You are married
  • You are a veteran

*If you are a new student who qualifies to live off campus, please complete the New Student Off Campus Approval Form
