Special Interest Housing Options

We offer a variety of special interest housing options. Continuing students: indicate your interest on your RSP form to be assigned to a special selection. New students: indicate your interest on your new student preference form to be assigned as spaces are available.

Co-ed by every other room floors

  • Rooms alternate male-female
    • Room of males lives next door to a room of females
  • Fitzgerald, Hendrick and Randall Halls
  • Continuing students: if you would like to live here, look for a room in the general room selection on this floor; no special indication required

All Gender Housing

  • All gender housing is available for students who wish to reside together within a floor, room, or suite regardless of their gender, gender identity, or gender expression.
    • A double room could have two people of the same gender or gender identity
    • A double room could have two people of differing genders or gender identities
    • If your chosen roommate leaves, your new roommate will be of any gender or gender identity
  • All gender housing is available in all housing styles across campus.
  • Continuing students: if you would like to live on this floor, indicate this preference on your RSP form

Transfer Floor

  • As a transfer student, this floor is designed to help you adjust to SUNY Cortland and become involved with the floor and community in the building and on campus.
  • Located in Higgins Hall
  • For new students only

West Campus Apartments

  • This complex is great for independent students and is located approximately two miles from the center of campus.
  • Preference given to older transfers over 21 (mixed housing, including freshmen)
  • 21+ apartments
    • Continuing students: anyone who completes the RSP form will automatically be assigned to this selection process if you will be 21 by August 31
  • All gender apartments available
    • Continuing students: if you would like to live on this floor, indicate this preference on your RSP form
