Our office is available to assist you with all of our normal services. In-office appointments are also available for critical services that require a meeting. We have added additional online form options and added chat services for your convenience as well.  If you're not sure where to start, feel free to use our "Rapid Response Form" to reach out to us.

Office Hours

Office walk-in hours are available daily from 9:00am to 3:00pm.  Campus community members are encouraged to use online forms and services to perform transactions to help us meet density and social distancing requirements.  For some specialized services requiring a discussion or a specific staff member, you may be required to make an appointment. You may access our online system to schedule an appointment.

Regular phone operations have also resumed. Call-in service will be available from 9:00am to 3:00pm daily. You may reach the office at 607-753-4702.

C-Number: In order to better serve you, please have your Cortland C-number (if known) available when contacting us. When corresponding via email, please also include your C-number and complete name. For your safety and security, please do not include a social security number when corresponding via email.

Former Name: If you have changed your name since last attending SUNY Cortland, please be sure to include your former name when corresponding, so we may find your record.

Your Information Security

Email is not a secure medium for sending sensitive information such as Social Security Numbers. SUNY Cortland's central email system filters are set to return email to you if it determines that your message includes a Social Security Number. We cannot receive or respond to messages containing a Social Security Number. Please call our office directly, or use mail services to send us correspondence or documents containing sensitive data.  Students, faculty, staff and alumni should never use email to transmit Social Security Numbers or other sensitive data such as credit card information, passwords, or account information. Read more about securing your personal information, and SUNY Cortland's security policies.

Record-Related Legal Notices and Requests

Legal requests for academic records, FERPA record review requests, or legal notices pertaining to academic records may be sent to our above address or to SUNY General Counsel. Certified or delivery-confirmed mail is accepted by using the address above. 

Freedom of Information Law  

New York State’s Freedom of Information Law (Public Officers Law §87 et. seq. ) allows members of the public to access records of governmental agencies. FOIL requests must be made through the Communications Office. Learn more about SUNY FOIL policies.

Solomon Amendment Requests

Recruiters seeking recruitment information under the provisions of the Solomon Amendment must contact the Communications Office.

FERPA Record Inspection Requests

A student must submit a formal written request that identifies the record(s) the student wishes to inspect.  A student has the right to inspect and review education records within 45 days after the day the SUNY Cortland Student Registration and Record Services office receives a request for access. The Registrar's will make arrangements for access and notify the student of the time and place where the records may be inspected. Read our complete FERPA policies.
