The University Police at SUNY Cortland, a police force of 19 sworn officers, coordinates law enforcement and personal safety on campus and University-owned property.
We are an established police department with deep roots in community policing. We firmly believe that our police officers are the guardians of the community. The officers emphasize social service, community partnerships, and establishing positive contacts. Our department follows these principles; treat all people with dignity and respect, give citizens a voice during encounters, be neutral and transparent in decision making, and convey trustworthy motives.
New 988 Crisis Lifeline
Vibrant Emotional Health, the nonprofit that operates the lifeline on behalf of the US Department of Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), launched the 988 dialing code available to everyone across the United States. Text messages can be sent to the three-digit number as well, and Veterans can now dial 988 and press 1 to reach the Veteran Crisis Line. Posted July 18, 2022
