Tournament Information

Accommodations

Campus Recreation, in conjunction with the Cortland Regional Sports Council, has been able to work with local hotels to lower rates for rooms during the Regional Championship. Below are the hotels currently holding room blocks for the Championship Series.

When reserving rooms with these hotels, make sure to mention that you are participating in the NIRSA Regional Basketball Championship at SUNY Cortland to receive the rates.

Parking

Parking for teams and spectators during the weekend will be available Friday through Sunday. Lots that have a commuter or all valid passes designation will be open for parking. Please refer to the Campus Parking Map for available parking near the game sites.

Parking in any other lot is at the risk of the vehicle owner and may be subject to ticketing. Campus Recreation and the NIRSA Championship Series will not reimburse teams and spectators for tickets incurred during the event.

Access

Access to the buildings are as follows:

Student Life Center

  • North end, east side entrance (Pashley Ave. entrance)
  • North end, west side entrance (Lusk Fieldhouse entrance)

Lusk Fieldhouse

  • South end entrance (facing tennis courts)
Access Passes and Wristbands

All participants and spectators must have an access pass or spectator wristband to enter any game site.

Access Passes

  • Access passes will be given to players and coaches once they have checked in at the administrative table outside of the 1104 Classroom in the Student Life Center.
  • A maximum of two (2) coaches may receive access passes. Teams may contact the tournament director to discuss requests for additional coaches passes.
  • No other individuals other than players and coaches may obtain access passes. Teams may contact the tournament director to discuss requests for additional personnel.
  • Players and coaches must show their pass to tournament personnel for entry and at the request of tournament personnel at any point.
  • No individuals other than players and coaches will be allowed in the team bench area. No exceptions will be made.
  • Individuals found without an access pass will be asked to return to the lobby of the Student Life Center to purchase a spectator wristband.
  • Individuals in the bench area without access passes that incur penalties due to behavior (ex: Technical foul) will be disallowed from participating in the tournament in any capacity, including spectator, and will not have access to game sites moving forward.

Spectator Wristbands

  • Individuals wishing to spectate games will be required to purchase a spectator wristband in the lobby of the Student Life Center
  • Spectators must show their wristband to tournament personnel for entry and at the request of tournament personnel at any point.
  • Spectators must stay in designated spectator areas to view games.
  • Spectators may not have access to the team bench area unless approved by tournament personnel.
  • Spectators found without a wristband will be asked to return to the lobby of the Student Life Center to purchase a spectator wristband.
  • Spectators in the bench area during a game will be asked to return to the spectating area. Lack of cooperation or repeated occurrences will result in spectating privileges being revoked and access to game sites denied.

Policy

Unsporting Behavior
  • All individuals participating in the Regional Basketball Championship, including players, volunteers, and spectators, are held to the standard of the NIRSA Championship Series and the Student Life Center. Individuals that violate the NIRSA Championship Series, Student Life Center, or SUNY Cortland Standard of Conduct will be subject to forfeit their ability to participate and spectate. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Disrespectful, vulgar, or obscene language or gestures on clothing or directed at individuals affiliated or participating with the tournament, Student Life Center, Lusk Fieldhouse or SUNY Cortland
    • Physical altercations with player, coaches, staff and spectators associated with the tournament, Student Life Center, Lusk Fieldhouse or SUNY Cortland
    • Damage or destruction of facilities, equipment, and spaces within the Student Life Center, Lusk Fieldhouse, and SUNY Cortland
  • Individuals that violate the Standard of Conduct may be subject to additional consequences such as, but not limited to, contact with University Police and contact with their institution's professional staff
Food and Beverage
  • Food and beverage may not be brought into the game area, with the exception of non-breakable, resealable liquid containers. This includes the spectator area.
  • Food and beverage must be partaken in the designated seating areas of each game site. Tournament and Student Life Center staff are happy to help direct you to those areas.
  • All teams and spectators are expected to remove trash and put them in the proper receptacles after use.
Student Life Center Use
  • Access to the Student Life Center for teams and spectators are limited to the lobby and Bistro Dining Hall, MAC Court, 3-Court Gym and viewing areas, locker rooms, and Game Room seating area.
  • Players, coaches, and spectators may not use the fitness areas, pool, climbing wall, Outdoor Pursuits space, group exercise spaces, Game Room, or track.
  • The track may not be used for overhead spectating or filming by players, coaches, or spectators.
Filming/Photography
  • Filming and photography by players, coaches, or spectators may not occur on the baselines of basketball courts in game-use.
  • The purposeful filming or photography of individuals not associated with the tournament (i.e. Student Life Center patrons) is prohibited and the individual filming will forfeit all abilities to participate or spectate in the tournament and may be subject to additional consequences from University Police.
Belongings
  • Individuals spectating or participating in the tournament are solely responsible for their belongings.
  • The NIRSA Championship Series, Student Life Center, and SUNY Cortland are not responsible for items or belongings missing or stolen during the tournament.
Right To Act
  • The tournament and Student Life Center staff have a right to act on any action that is in violation with the NIRSA Championship Series, Student Life Center, and SUNY Cortland Standard of Conduct not listed in this section.

Pricing

Team Entry
  • $325 prior to January 15, 2026
  • $375 on January 15, 2026 and all dates after
  • Teams on the waitlist prior to January 15, 2026 that make the tournament will be charged the $325 entry.
Spectator Wristbands
  • $5 for one day
  • $10 for the entire weekend
