How do I facilitate preparing an office for a new employee?

  • For readying an office space for a new employee that involves maintenance including patching/paint/lock changes or other minor improvements to prepare the space, place a work order through the Facilities operations and services (FOS). https://www2.cortland.edu/offices/FOS/
  • For surplus furniture availability contact Josh McLaughlin or check the surplus tab on the FOS website (not up and running yet). Note if planning to order new furniture other than seating, a furniture layout must be completed by Syracuse Office Environments and reviewed by Design & Construction for fit in the space prior to purchasing the furniture. The business office will not process a department furniture purchase outside of chairs unless it has a layout plan initialed by Design & Construction
  • Chairs can just be ordered by your department through state preferred source Corcraft, https://corcraft.ny.gov/office-furniture-seating if ordering a black chair or you can order something with color off from state contract through Syracuse Office Environments (KI task seating is recommended).
  • New or updated signage should be requested through the duplicating center https://www2.cortland.edu/offices/publications/big/signage/
  • Requests for new phone and technology should be submitted through the Information Resources ticketing system on My Red Dragon
