Summer Session

Thank you for your interest in Summer Session at SUNY Cortland. If you want to get ahead, catch up, or explore something new in summer, SUNY Cortland has something for you. .

Special Note: University offices are closed on Thursday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.

Upcoming Deadlines
All registration activity for 10-week, Session I, Term A or Term B courses has closed. This includes any opportunities to add, drop or withdraw from a course. 

Registration for Session II and Term C remains open through Monday, June 30 and Term D remains open through Wednesday, July 16 via myRedDragon. Visiting students must first submit the Visiting Student Form, if not yet completed.

Summer Session 2025 Dates

To accommodate busy student schedules, Summer Session includes multiple terms and most courses are 5 weeks long.

May 21 - June 26

Term A
May 21 - June 9

Term B
June 10 - June 26

Summer Session II
June 30 - August 4

Term C
June 30 - July 15

Term D
July 16 - August 4

*No classes or assignments shall be due in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, Juneteenth on Thursday, June 19 and Independence Day on Friday, July 4. 

Please note: A slight change to the end date of Term C and the start date to Term D have been made. All dates are correct effective October 8, 2024.

Tuition and Billing

Summer Session 2025 tuition and fee rates are available through Student Accounts.

Bills for Summer Session 2025 are due on Friday, May 9. All students are billed electronically beginning on April 16. You can view and pay your tuition and fees online through myRedDragon. It is important to check your email and account regularly for changes in charges, financial aid or other billed items. For directions on how to view/print your bill, please see View Your Bill. The Student Accounts Office provides general billing and payment information. Students who do not provide payment by the due date will be deregistered.

Summer Session traditionally features a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, with several options for General Education, Foreign Language and Writing Intensive at the undergraduate level.

Registration 

Registration for Summer Session opens with the fall semester time ticket and pins. Registration dates for Summer 2025 will be announced in November. Please view the Registration page for more detailed information regarding registration, including deadlines for each specific term.
