Responsibilities
- Coordinates Test Accessibility Services
- Provides assistive technology support and training
- Supports students with accessible textbook accommodations
- Provides digital accessibility guidance for instructors supporting student accommodations
- Supports student accommodations as an accessibility consultant
Casey grew up near Troy, NY and attended SUNY New Paltz where he earned a B.S. in Visual Arts as part of the Graphic Design program. Casey worked for a year in prepress book publishing after graduation, but quickly returned to his alma mater as a member of the Instructional Media Services office. Casey moved to Central NY in 2011 and has contributed to several SUNY Cortland roles since then, including Campus Technology Services and the Marketing Office. Casey’s work has covered roles in academic and instructional technology, content management, training, design, digital accessibility, and book publishing. In the last decade, that work has shifted toward a focus on digital accessibility while Casey learned more about his own disability identity. In 2022, he accepted a position as the Digital Accessibility Manager for Northeastern University. Casey returned to SUNY Cortland in spring 2025 to join the Disability Resources office, where he enjoys more student-facing responsibilities.
Casey has served on several SUNY-wide initiates related to accessibility and inclusion, and has received various service awards from SUNY educational technology groups. At SUNY Cortland, Casey has served as chair or co-chair of various committees, served as a student club advisor, and has taught COR101 for three semesters.
Casey enjoys spending time outdoors, or staying in with his kids and spending time on a Lego set or a video game. He plays guitar, piano, and mandolin, and one day might learn to actually play his instruments properly. Casey has two obstreperous children; he loves them unconditionally. He also has two obstreperous cats. If the cats try to tell you they haven’t been fed, don’t believe them.
