Undergraduate Students

May 17 

Attend rehearsal at 2:30 p.m. in the Park Center Alumni Arena. All candidates for graduation are encouraged to attend. Rehearsal will last approximately 30 minutes.

May 18 

Ceremony A report at 8:30 a.m. with student line-up ticket, cap, gown and tassel
Ceremony B report at 1:30 p.m. with student line-up ticket, cap, gown and tassel
Ceremony C report at 6 p.m. with student line-up ticket, cap, gown and tassel

Tickets and Overflow

  • Each undergraduate is able to reserve up to four guest tickets and one student line-up ticket. Only guests with tickets are allowed in the Alumni Arena for the undergraduate ceremonies. The Graduate Commencement ceremony does not require guest tickets.
  • Overflow seating is available throughout Park Center for the undergraduate ceremonies; tickets are not required for overflow locations.
  • Commencement programs will be available in these locations.
  • Commencement ceremony will be shown on a large-screen projectors in real time in our overflow rooms.
    • Overflow rooms:
      • Park Center Hall of Fame Room (Room 1118) This air-conditioned room is suitable for grandparents or guests that need more comfortable seating. This room is first come-first served by filling out the Hall of Fame Room Overflow Reservation Form.

  • Video of the ceremony will be streamed during the event and a recording available within a week.

Guest Assistance

Faculty and staff marshals, student ushers and university police officers are available at all times for assistance and information. Faculty and staff marshals will be wearing Commencement regalia, the student ushers will be in black volunteer shirts and khaki pants, and university police officers will be in full uniform.


General Parking Use the campus entrance on Tompkins Street to access Lot C to the east of Park Center. 

Accessible Parking Use the campus entrance on Tompkins Street where you will be directed to designated accessible parking. Accessibility tags/plates or provided accessibility seat ticket(s) should be visible.

University Police Department officers will be available throughout the lower area of campus to direct you to parking.

Safety Inspections

SUNY Cortland cares about the safety of its new graduates and their guests. As a precaution, backpacks and other items will be inspected before visitors enter the Alumni Arena for Commencement ceremonies. The College appreciates your cooperation in making this a safe and memorable event.
