The Red Dargon ReUse program, in partnership with Cortland ReUse, is a sustainability initiative to divert usable goods from the landfill by collecting items during move-out and offering equitable access to goods during a pop-up sale during fall move-in. The partnership aims to promote a circular economy, reduce waste, and support local and campus community needs.
In 2025, 8 tons of waste was diverted from the landfill during the Spring and Fall collection.
Starting the last week of classes, students will see two donation collection bins in the lobby of their Residence Halls.
All donations should be still usable and gently worn or used.
When you move out, don't throw it out!

In November 2025, Cortland ReUse won a nonprofit sector award from the New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling (NYSAR3), it was stated their application stood out due to the Red Dragon ReUse program.
