Special Interest Housing Options

We offer a variety of special interest housing options. Continuing students: indicate your interest on your RSP form to be assigned to a special selection. New students: indicate your interest on your new student preference form to be assigned as spaces are available.

  • 21+ Floors

    • Provides you with housing with other students 21 years and older
    • Alger, Clark (transfer only) and Higgins Halls
    • Continuing students: anyone who completes the RSP form will automatically be assigned to this selection process if you will be 21 by August 31
  • 24-hour Quiet Floors

    • Provides you with an academically supportive atmosphere
    • Quiet hours exist 24/7
    • View living agreement
    • Bishop and Higgins Halls
    • Continuing students: if you would like to live on this floor, indicate this preference on your RSP form
  • Co-ed by every other room floors

    • Rooms alternate male-female
    • Fitzgerald, Hendrick and Randall Halls
    • Continuing students: if you would like to live here, look for a room in the general room selection on this floor; no special indication required
  • Gender Inclusive Housing Floor

    • A developed community for all students who choose to participate to feel accepted and supported
    • The floors are open to all, regardless of gender identity and as space is available, who would like to grow not only as individuals, but as student leaders active in society

  • Transfer Floor

    • As a transfer student, this floor is designed to help you adjust to SUNY Cortland and become involved with the floor and community in the building and on campus.
    • Alger, Cheney, Clark (21+ only) and Higgins Halls
    • For new students only
  • Wellness Floor

    • You agree to live a lifestyle free from the influences of alcohol and all illegal or illicit drug use.

    • Continuing students: if you would like to live on this floor, indicate this preference on your RSP form
  • West Campus Apartments

    • This complex is great for independent students and is located approximately two miles from the center of campus.
    • Preference given to older transfers over 21 (mixed housing, including freshmen)
    • 21+ building
      • Continuing students: anyone who completes the RSP form will automatically be assigned to this selection process if you will be 21 by August 31
    • Gender inclusive apartments available
      • Continuing students: if you would like to live on this floor, indicate this preference on your RSP form
    • Transfer building; transfer/21+ building
    • Green (sustainable) building
      • You agree to live a sustainable lifestyle including making a positive commitment to maintaining the community expectation.

  • Winter Session Housing

    • Residence halls open for winter session classes and athletic practices
    • Fitzgerald and Randall Halls, Casey and Smith Towers
