Robert Spitzer, Political Science Department, is coauthor of the just-published ninth edition of We the People, a synthetic look at the American political system. The book is published by W.W. Norton.
Mecke Nagel
Mecke Nagel, Philosophy and Africana Studies departments and the Center for Gender and Intercultural Studies, gave a keynote at the recent Philosophy at Play Conference held April 11 and 12 at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham, England. She presented “Peacemaking through Ludic Ubuntu.”
Tom Lickona
Tom Lickona, Center for the 4th and 5th Rs, was invited to write a monthly blog titled “Raising Kind Kids” for Psychology Today. The request was in response to Lickona’s How to Raise Kind Kids book (Penguin, 2018).
Teagan Bradway
Teagan Bradway, English Department, was awarded a Hunt-Simes Visiting Junior Chair of Sexuality Studies with the Social Sciences and Humanities Advanced Research Centre at the University of Sydney. In February, she traveled to the University of Sydney and taught a seminar on “Queer Relationality” as part of the Hunt-Simes Institute for Sexuality Studies, which ran from Feb. 19 to March 1.

Benjamin Wilson, Economics Department, co-presented at the National Environmental Health Association Conference in June in San Antonio, Texas. He and Kevin Kennedy, managing director at The Center for Environmental Health at Children’s Mercy Hospital, presented “Mapping Health and Housing: Using Community Wide Data to Investigate Environmental Exposure Risks.”

Szilvia Kadas, Art and Art History Department, recently presented “Evoking Empathy through Graphic Design” at the Popular Culture Association - American Culture Association Conference on April 18 in Washington D.C.
Szilvia Kadas
Szilvia Kadas, Art and Art History Department, exhibits her recent graphic design works at “The SUNY Design Invitational” at The College at Brockport among other graphic design faculty at the State University of New York system. The exhibition opened to the public on Jan. 30 and will be on display through March 6 at the Tower Fine Arts Center Gallery, located at 180 Holley St., Brockport, N.Y.
Dakin Burdick
Dakin Burdick, director of the Institute for College Teaching, presented “Fleeting Glances: Using brief encounters with disciplinary specializations to enrich and diversify competency-based introductory classes” at the Conference on Instruction and Technology (CIT) on May 31 at Purchase College. Also, he presented on “Active Learning Activities that Minimize Student Anxiety” at the New England Faculty Development Consortium (NEFDC) conference on June 6 at Landmark College in Putney, Vt. Patricia Martínez de la Vega Mansilla and Paulo Quaglio
Patricia Martínez de la Vega Mansilla and Paulo Quaglio, Modern Languages Department, coordinated the Virginia Levine Second Language Educators Conference held in Sperry Center on Saturday, Sept. 23. Titled “World Language Education: Supporting Our Students, Supporting Each Other,” the conference included nine workshops for TESOL, Spanish, French and general language instruction. A keynote address was given by Bill Heller, a methods and Spanish instructor at SUNY Geneseo and a member of the executive board and advisory panel for World Languages at the New York State Education Department.

Jamie Dangler and Dan Harms, Memorial Library, were part of a panel presentation titled “Promotion and Tenure: The Rebooted Bootcamp” at the SUNYLA 2021 (Virtual) annual conference held June 16 to 18. They joined five other SUNY librarians in a discussion of demystify the stressful process of promotion and tenure.
