Resources and Spaces

Cortland Cupboard

Given the rising cost of living—especially the high cost of groceries—we understand that it can be difficult—and sometimes impossible—to make ends meet. We also know this can lead to students experiencing food insecurity. The Cortland Cupboard supports student well-being by providing students with food items and personal hygiene products at no cost. There is no application required to access the Cupboard; students simply need to swipe in using their SUNY Cortland ID to gain entry.

Sensory Room

The sensory room was created to provide a space where students can take a break from college in an environment that can be tailored to their individual needs. College is constant input—noise, lights, social demands, and deadlines. Having space to reset your nervous system can help prevent the overwhelm, overstimulation, and shutdown that often come with stress.

This space supports both sensory seeking and sensory avoiding needs. Whatever overload or burnout looks like for you, you are invited to explore what the sensory room has to offer. The space can be reserved by any SUNY Cortland student. For instructions on how to reserve the space, visit the Disability Resources Office website.

Gender-Inclusive Restrooms

SUNY Cortland is committed to the safety and well-being of all community members. As a campus, we want to ensure that students, staff, and faculty can access gender-inclusive restrooms. These single-occupancy spaces are labeled with non-gendered signage and are designed to be used by individuals of any gender identity or expression.

All-Gender Housing

Residence Life and Housing offers all-gender housing options for students who wish to reside together within a floor, room, or suite regardless of their gender, gender identity, or gender expression.

Single-Occupancy Restrooms and Showers

Residence Life and Housing offers single-occupancy restrooms in almost all residential buildings. Many of these single-occupancy spaces also include showers. These facilities are designed to be used by individuals of any gender identity or expression.
