Program Description:
The MLDO Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for Voice Office club members to mentor incoming first-year students who are interested in becoming involved with one of the Voice Office clubs. Mentors and mentees will build relationships with each other, be a part of a community of students with similar interests, and will build leadership skills. Participants will meet as a group once a month, and mentors and mentees will meet biweekly. In September, we will host a one-day leadership retreat facilitated by Team Adventure. Mentor applications are due April 26th 2026. Mentee applications will open in June 2026.
Mentor Information:
Do you have a passion for helping others? If so, we encourage you to apply to be a Voice Office Mentor.
Qualifications:

- Must have at least sophomore status by the start of the Fall 2026 semester
- Must have completed two semesters at SUNY Cortland by the start of the Fall 2026 semester
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must have previously been or currently be a member in at least one of the Voice Office organizations
- Must be able to attend the mandatory one day retreat on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Must be available and commit to participate for a full academic year (fall and spring), which includes:
- Attending mentor training at the beginning of the Fall 2026 semester
- Attending retreat
- Attending five group gatherings after retreat (One will be scheduled for October, November, February, March and April)
- Meeting with your two mentees at least once a month

Mentee Information:
This mentorship program is sponsored by the Multicultural Life and Diversity Office. As a mentee, you will assist first-year students interested in joining any of our Voice Office organizations in navigating and adjusting to the SUNY Cortland campus. You will have the opportunity to build substantial new relationships by helping students become more accustomed to collegiate life and by creating a community that they feel they are welcomed and included in.
Qualifications: - Fall 2026 must be your first semester at SUNY Cortland Have interest in becoming a member of at least one of the Voice Office organizations (listed in the application).
- Must be able to attend the mandatory one day retreat on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Must be available and commit to participate for a full academic year (fall and spring), which includes: Attending retreat, attending five group gatherings after retreat (One will be scheduled for October, November, February, March and April), and meeting with your mentor at least once a month
