Antlers

Antlers at William H. Parks Family Center for Environmental and Outdoor Education is located on the shore of Raquette Lake. Originally run as The Antlers Hotel, the facilities were built in the late 1880s. Currently, the center encompasses seven original buildings, including a dining hall and several sleeping accommodations.

With accommodations for 45 individuals, Antlers is comprised of five primary units: the Main Lodge, the Cedars, the Terrace Cottages, the Casino and the kitchen/dining room.

Antlers operates from mid-May through mid-October. Like Huntington Memorial Camp, the facility does not provide staff or programs for its users. However, canoes, kayaks and access to a community beach is available. Staff supervision is required since lifeguards are unavailable.

The Casino, located directly above the Cummings Dining Room, serves as the Antlers classroom. With its wireless computer network, Antlers offers technological access to user groups who wish to bring computers.

The kitchen and the Cummings Dining Room at Antlers is operated by the Cortland Auxiliary. Healthy, well-balanced meals are prepared daily for the user groups.

Dietary limitations may be identified on the reservation form contained in the reservation packet. Pack lunches and trip food are available for both day and overnight trips. Notice should be given in advance if meals are not planned in the dining room.

Also with advanced notification, users can be ferried across Raquette Lake to Huntington Memorial Camp to use the hiking trails, nature trail or the challenge course. Trained facilitators are required to lead groups on the challenge course.
