This award is given to a student majoring in Sociology, Anthropology, Archaeology or Criminology who, like Professor Palm, has made exemplary contributions to the well-being of the community.  In selecting the recipient of this award, first priority is given to volunteer work in Cortland County, especially for off-campus agencies and groups.

Sociology/Anthropology and Criminology Clubs

All Cortland students who are interested in sociology, criminology and/or anthropology are invited to join the Sociology/Anthropology Club or the Criminology Club, which provides involvement beyond the classroom in both fields. Members organize lectures, debates, films, field trips to various institutions, travel to professional conferences, and informal gatherings between students and faculty. Membership is open to non-majors as well as to students majoring in sociology, criminology, or anthropology.

As of Fall 2024, the SOC/ANT and CRIM clubs are not meeting regularly.  If you are interested in reviving one of these clubs, email the Department Chair (Dr. Anna Curtis, anna.curtis@cortland.edu).
