Jerry Casciani


Jerry Casciani continues to teach on a part-time basis after retiring in August 2008 with thirty-eight years of service at SUNY Cortland. Dr. Casciani's career at SUNY Cortland included sixteen years as Department Chair, one year as Interim Dean, several years as assistant coach in football, wrestling and lacrosse and seven years (1984-1990) as head men's lacrosse coach. During this period, he received his doctorate degree (1980) from West Virginia University with a research emphasis in the area of motor development.

Before coming to SUNY Cortland in 1970, Jerry Casciani earned his bachelor's degree from Springfield College, his Master's degree from The Pennsylvania State University and he coached several sports and taught physical education at various public school levels in Long Island, Baltimore, MD and Southeastern Pennsylvania.
