Science Writing Microcredential

This microcredential prepares students to have both the scientific knowledge and advanced writing skills necessary for effective science communication. Ideal for students interested in careers in writing, editing, policy, health, research, and advocacy work. Open to all majors.

Student Learning Outcomes

• Compose clear, accurate prose to explain scientific concepts, evidence, and processes.
• Compose rhetorically effective documents in a range of commonly used genres for science communication.
• Apply their knowledge of scientific concepts and processes to inform their writing choices.

• Writing Courses: 6 credit hours

• Select two courses from the following:

    *Note: Students in certain major programs may substitute one of the following upper-division science Writing Intensive courses for one of the required two writing courses.
