Fostering Inclusion Reading Group

The Institutional Equity and Inclusion Office hosts a monthly reading group for faculty and staff designed to critically explore the interpersonal and institutional dynamics of higher education and how those dynamics influence the experiences of students, staff, and faculty. The goal of the monthly discussions is to consider the factors that shape experiences of inclusion and belonging, discuss how each reading relates to the work we do on campus, and identify concrete ways we can adapt our individual and collective practices to promote more equitable and affirming spaces for our students and our colleagues. Below are the upcoming dates, times, and articles that will be discussed.

To reduce barriers to access and participation, the monthly reading group discussions will be held online via Teams meetings. Faculty and staff are welcome to attend reading group meetings as their schedule allows. If you would like to participate in any of the discussions, email Renee Wells, chief diversity officer, for a copy of the article and the meeting link (and/or an Outlook calendar invitation with the meeting link and article attached).
