We Want to do More than Survive: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom

We Want to do More than Survive: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom
with Dr. Bettina Love

Virtual Event
Thursday April 1
7:00 - 8:30 PM

A discussion of the struggles and possibilities of committing ourselves to an abolitionist goal of educational freedom and intersectional justice, so we all can move beyond what Dr. Love calls the educational survival complex. Abolitionist Teaching is built on the creativity, imagination, boldness, ingenuity, and rebellious spirit and methods of abolitionists to demand and fight for an educational system and world where all students are thriving, not simply surviving.

Dr. Bettina Love is an award-winning author and associate professor of educational theory and practice at the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on how teachers and schools working with parents and communities can build communal, civically engaged, antiracist, antihomophobic, and antisexist educational, equitable classrooms.

This event is free and open to all, but registration is required. RSVP at https://sunycortland.formstack.com/forms/we_want_to_do_more_than_survive
