Student Success in Winter Session

Student Success in Winter Session
Courses offered in Winter Session are delivered in a condensed format. The content you may traditionally learn in a 15-week semester is delivered over the span of 35 days (Session I) or as few as 14 days (Session II), which translates to learning a week of course materials (fall or spring semester) every 1 – 2 days. We want you to be successful in these courses!

  • For help with planning, check out our session calendars and planners available on the registered students and available services pages.
  • Review the course syllabus as soon as it is available and plan for how you will successfully navigate the two- or four-week course.
  • Pace yourself and don’t save everything for the last minute.
  • Communicate with your professor early and often when questions arise.
  • Many of you are also balancing time with friends and family over the holidays and/or a work commitment!
  • Be sure to re-visit the Finish Strong messaging that our colleagues in Advisement and Transition sent in the final weeks of the Fall semester.
  • Even with most courses online, there are a variety of Available Services for students in Winter Session. With limited staff due to the holidays noted below, many offices provide online resources to assist students.

Office Availability/Holiday Closures

Campus offices are generally open 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily through Thursday of this week. Many offices are either closed or have limited services beginning Monday, Dec. 23 through Wednesday, Jan. 1 when the university allows for a liberal leave during the holidays. Hours of operation for some offices are included in the holiday office availability listing or the available services listing. Offices resume regular business hours (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) on Thursday, January 2. Be proactive and reach out with any questions you have this week ahead of the closures.
