Housing Portal

Housing Assignments and Portal

The Housing Portal is the central online hub where SUNY Cortland students manage many aspects of their campus housing experience. Accessible through myRedDragon, the Housing Portal allows students to complete requests, manage their living arrangements, and stay informed about their housing assignment in one convenient place. From submitting room change or housing release requests to selecting rooms, viewing roommate information, and accessing important housing details, the portal supports students throughout the entire housing process, from application through move-out.

Room Change Requests

Submit a request to change your current room assignment directly through the Housing Portal under Resources. Students can indicate the type of request, including general room changes, requests for a single room, or transitions to or from West Campus Apartments. You will be asked to share your reason for the request, any preferred roommates, and additional details for the housing team to review.

Release From Housing Requests

If you are seeking to live off campus, you must complete a Release From Housing Request form located under Resources in the Housing Portal. Students will indicate their status, the semester of the request, and the applicable reason for release. Requests are reviewed by the housing team, and approval is not guaranteed.

Important: Do not sign an off-campus lease until your request has been approved. Signing a lease before approval is not considered a valid reason for release.

Housing Waitlist

The Housing Waitlist is available for returning students who missed the Room Selection Process or who choose to be placed with an incoming student instead of selecting a space independently. Students can join or manage their waitlist status through the Housing Portal under Resources.

Submit Facilities Work Requests

Submit maintenance or facilities concerns through a separate work order system linked within the Housing Portal. A direct link is available under Resources, providing easy access to report issues in your residence hall or room.

Single Room Request

Students interested in a single room can join the single room wait-list through the Housing Portal under Resources. When a space becomes available, the housing team will reach out with an offer. If the offer is declined, you will remain on the wait-list for future opportunities.

Room Condition Report

The Room Condition Report must be completed within 10 days of moving in and is located under the Residency section of the Housing Portal. This form allows you to document any existing damages in your room. Providing detailed descriptions and photos helps ensure you are not held responsible for pre-existing conditions at move-out.

Guest Registration

Register overnight guests through the Visitors section of the Housing Portal. After submitting the required information and reviewing the guest policy, your guest will receive an invitation with a QR code. This QR code must be available for presentation to university staff upon request.

Extended Stay Requests

Submit an Extended Stay Request if you need to arrive early or remain on campus during scheduled hall closing periods, such as breaks or between semesters. Students will select a reason for their request or provide additional details if their situation is not listed.

View Room Details

The Housing Portal provides access to detailed information about your housing assignment through the Apps and Forms and Residency sections. Students can view:

  • Roommates and suitemates
  • Occupancy dates
  • Building name
  • Room type and room number
  • Room furniture details
  • Example room photos
  • Assigned Resident Assistant (RA)
  • Move-in and move-out date and time selection, when available
  • Room selection information during active housing processes
