Each spring, SUNY Cortland recognizes students for their academic achievements at the annual Honors Convocation. Students in the top five percent of their class are acknowledged and awards and scholarships are presented at the ceremony.
Students in the top five percent of their class are notified in late Feb. Invitations and letters from the President's Office are mailed to students and families, respectively. Students in the top five percent are asked to RSVP by date provided in the letter and should follow the instructions provided.
90 or more credit hours completed.
Cumulative GPA 3.91 to 4.18
56.5 to 89.5 credit hours completed.
Cumulative GPA 3.89 to 4.18
25 to 56 credit hours completed.
Cumulative GPA 3.83 to 4.07
12 to 25.5 credit hours completed.
Cumulative GPA 3.81 to 4.0
Recipients of the awards and scholarships presented at Honors Convocation are determined in early March. Students are notified by the department or office that sponsors the award and receive a formal invitation to Honors Convocation from the President’s Office the week of March 13. Students should follow the RSVP instructions provided in the notification letter.
A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony for all students, guests, faculty and staff.
There are several academic events occurring the weekend of Honors Convocation, including various honor society inductions. Students will need to RSVP to events individually as indicated on each invitation.
