Liberty Partnerships Program

 
The Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) was established in 1988 under Section 612, Subdivision 6 of the Education Law to address the significant school dropout rate among New York's youth. The Liberty Partnerships Program has been included in the New York State Education Department's Statewide Plan for Higher Education as part of its strategy to maximize the successful transition of middle and high school students who are at risk of dropping out of school into graduates, fully prepared for the rigors of higher education and the competitive demands of a fluid workplace in a global economy. There are currently 46 LPPs operating in New York state.

LPP provides academic intervention and other services to youth in high school and helps them seek post-secondary education or meaningful employment. Through a partnership with area schools, higher education institutions and community-based agencies, the program utilizes a holistic approach to services for LPP students. 

The SUNY Cortland LPP delivers a comprehensive, results-driven program designed to improve the abilities of high school students at risk of not graduating to graduate from high school prepared for a successful transition into postsecondary education or onto a career path. The SUNY Cortland Liberty Partnerships Program serves students in grades 6-12 in seven school districts to include Cincinnatus, Cortland, Dryden, Groton, Homer, McGraw and Tully.
