Longer Deconstructed Campus Visit Description: ACE’s pinnacle program series includes the annual Campus Visit field trips hosted at the four sponsoring colleges and universities (Cornell University, Ithaca College, SUNY Cortland, and Tompkins Cortland Community College) for each grade level. As we are unable to visit the campuses this year, the colleges have creatively “deconstructed” the Campus Visit into a virtual experience for you.
Outlined below is the new, virtual program structure, and you can register for all programs on the ACE website as they are publicized. Remember, to be considered for the ACE Senior Scholar recognition, students must demonstrate continued participation throughout their time with ACE and regular attendance at the annual Campus Visit programs.
Campus Connection Experience: There will be four campus tours and student panels hosted by each sponsoring institution this year. Each experience will be focused on the student experience at that particular institution and provide an opportunity for you to consider your own college search process. This program is open to all students and family members, regardless of your grade. You are also invited to attend as many of these as you like.
Student Success Workshop: An important component of the Campus Visit includes a college success workshop that is facilitated by college faculty, staff, and students. In this new model, specific grade levels will be invited to the same virtual workshop they would have experienced if we were hosting these in person. At this time, we are unable to accommodate family members during the workshop. However, we are planning supplemental family programs to compliment the student’s experience.
ACE sponsored campus visits are open to all ACE students, whether or not you are interested in attending the hosting institution. The goal is to provide general and helpful information that will assist you in making the best decision about your individual college (or post-high school) experience.
The Deconstructed Campus Visit modifications are a temporary program adjustment, and we are hopeful for a safe return to in-person experiences next year.
