The SUNY Cortland Honors Program is designed for entering freshmen and a limited number of sophomores with a high level of academic ability and motivation. Honors courses are geared to stimulate and challenge students in their special areas of interest as well as in the sciences and humanities.
Although the typical honors student enters SUNY Cortland with an exceptional academic and extracurricular high school record, the program's eligibility criteria are flexible. Decisions concerning eligibility are based on a variety of factors, such as the applicant's GPA, SAT and/or ACT scores, the rigor of the applicant's coursework and selection of classes in high school, extraordinary individual course performance, and demonstrated potential and motivation for success at the college level.
