President's message on Thanksgiving break departure

11/17/2020

Dear Cortland students,

Many of you who remain in Cortland have plans to leave in the coming days for your well-deserved Thanksgiving break. I want to remind you to follow the university’s departure planning guidance.

Please pay attention to these important reminders:

  • Many students have asked how to stop receiving daily screening reminder emails after they return home. These will conclude after you submit the student attestation form.
  • Students may still register for a COVID-19 test at Park Center this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday through the departure planning webpage

Remember that the university’s departure plan is intended to work as a safeguard, especially right now as COVID-19 cases are rising across New York state. SUNY Cortland wants to help make sure you have been tested and you are healthy before returning home to your families.

Your safety remains paramount, even if you are completing your studies at home this semester. Continue to follow the habits that we require on campus — wear a face covering, practice physical distancing and limit your contact with others outside of your immediate circle. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones.

I am forever thankful for all of your effort and consideration this semester.

All the best,

Erik J. Bitterbaum

President
