Fall 2020 course scheduling information shared

The following message about fall 2020 course scheduling was sent to students by the Office of the Provost:

As we assist students in building schedules for the fall 2020 semester, we would like to make you aware of the relevant priorities and processes to meet students’ academic needs.

Priorities for Student Course Schedules:

The safety and well-being of our community. This includes social distancing in classrooms, wearing of masks and varying course delivery methods.

The needs of students who meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines for accommodations or have a medical condition that puts them in the high-risk category for COVID-19. Even in these cases, student may need to adapt their schedule given some limitations in course delivery because of COVID-19.

Enrolling students in a full-time schedule with enough course credit to make progress towards their respective degrees.

Limitations:

Given the mix of both in-person, hybrid, and online course delivery, we cannot guarantee any student a fully online or fully in-person course schedule.

Student Schedule Adjustments:

Students who may require all online courses for fall 2020 because of a disability or because they are in a high-risk group associated with COVID-19, please refer to Request for Online Schedule.

Continuing and returning students and new transfer students may adjust their schedules through myRedDragon up to August 30, 2020 using their preregistration or orientation PIN.

New first-year and transfer students will be contacted via their SUNY Cortland email in myRedDragon in early August about the process of adding a course to their schedule.

Schedule changes will be prioritized for students with incomplete schedules (e.g., credit hours).

All students will have the opportunity to make schedule adjustments during the week of drop add: August 31, 2020-September 4, 2020. Students can contact their academic department for assistance during Drop/Add.

Reminders:

If a student drops a course in the registration system, that course may not be available if they try to add it back in.

All tuition rates apply, regardless of the course delivery method.

All email communication with students is through their official SUNY Cortland email.
