The commissioner of the NCAA’s Southeastern Conference visited campus for a two-day executive-in-residence program.


The School of Professional Studies houses six academic departments who are committed to  providing the highest quality experiences in teacher preparation in health and physical education and a variety of professional programs in health; communication disorders and science; fitness development; exercise science; sport studies; coaching; athletic training; recreation, parks and leisure studies; and sport management.

Although each program is unique and prepares students to enter a variety of professions, they all have a common general education foundation augmented by significant real-world experiences.  The School seeks to prepare culturally sensitive and competent professionals who will graduate with the knowledge and skills to be effective representatives of positive change for individuals, their communities and the environment.

With outstanding and highly respected faculty and scholars, the academic programs in the School of Professional Studies are held in the highest regard throughout New York State, the northeast region, across the country and internationally.

Our school functions as a collaborative community dedicated to innovative teaching, meaningful community and professional service, and creative scholarly endeavors.  In Professional Studies, our vision is to provide an exceptional undergraduate and graduate educational experience through the integration of classroom theory with transformational experiences that include undergraduate and graduate research, international experiences, clinical practice, internships, student teaching and service-learning.
