Buildings and Grounds Services

Grounds Services maintains the grounds at a level that will assure an attractive and environmentally safe campus. The Grounds Services team consists of specialized crews of dedicated professionals who pride themselves in caring for Cortland’s natural areas.

Some of the services provided:

• Mowing
• Trash and recycling removal
• Plant, weed and water flower beds
• Integrated Pest Management program
• Maintain athletic and recreation sports fields
• Tree pruning and removal
• Remove snow from roads and walkways and steps
• Clean roads and walkways
• Perform minor excavation
• Provide support as needed for various campus events
• Design and install new landscape

Situations requiring a Grounds Services call-in:

• Snow and ice removal
• Downed trees or limbs causing a hazard
• Flooding

Custodial Services

Custodial Services provides cleaning services for all university buildings. The Custodial Services team is dedicated to maintaining an aesthetically pleasing environment for all SUNY Cortland students, faculty, staff and the public.

Some of the services provided:

• Trash and recycling removal
• Carpet vacuuming and shampooing
• Dust mopping floors
• Restroom cleaning
• Wet mopping floors
• Refinish floors
• Dusting
• Window cleaning
• Entrance shoveling
• Event support
• Event set-up and tear-downs for internal and external campus events

Situations requiring a Custodial Services call-in:

• Bodily fluid clean up
• Excessive water spillage
