Dear students,

I hope that your first few days of classes have gone well.

I want to remind you that Welcome Week events continue through Monday, Sept. 5 and I encourage you to participate if you are able. These events are wonderful ways to connect with other students and can help you find opportunities for recreation and relaxation.

A few highlights include:

  • Tonight: Africana Dance, 7 to 7:30 p.m., Student Life Center
  • Thursday: Chocolate fountain and board games, 8:30 p.m., Corey Union Function Room
  • Friday: Resource Fair and Red Dragon Wagon food samples, 2 to 4 p.m., Corey Union steps
  • Saturday: The Great New York State Fair, 12 to 6 p.m., Syracuse
  • Sunday: Outdoor movie, 8 p.m., Moffett Center lawn
  • Monday, Sept. 5: Student Club Fair and Labor Day Carnival, noon to 3 p.m., Corey Union steps

Cortland’s athletic teams begin competition this week with three games at home on Thursday, Sept. 1. A full athletics schedule is posted online.

Please do use this long weekend to meet new people and enjoy campus events.
