Katie Ronsini

Major: Health Education Certification K-12

Favorite professor/class: My favorite professor in the Health Department is Dr. Coffey. All the professors are amazing, but she has been especially supportive, kind, and understanding throughout my entire journey at SUNY Cortland.

Plans after graduation: After graduation, I plan to pursue a position as a Health Education Teacher and apply what I have learned at SUNY Cortland.

Favorite experience at Cortland: My favorite experience has been getting to know so many great students and professors.

Mikkel Kohn

Major: Community Health

Favorite professor/class: One of my all-time favorite professors in the Health Department is Professor Erblin Shehu. He makes his classes fun and engaging while also taking the time to connect with students on a personal level. He shows genuine interest in our goals and futures, making us feel supported and appreciated. He creates a welcoming environment and ensures students understand the material, both inside and outside the classroom.

Plans after graduation: I plan to pursue a job in community health or medicine to gain experience before returning to school for my master’s degree.

Favorite experience at Cortland: Being a Teaching Assistant for Anatomy and Physiology was a highlight. It allowed me to support students while strengthening my own communication and leadership skills.

Huijie Xiao

Major: Human Services Studies

Favorite professor/class: My favorite professors are all the instructors I’ve had, as they consistently supported me with kindness and knowledge whenever I needed help.

Plans after graduation: I plan to complete my internship, earn my degree, and pursue a full-time position in Human Services, ideally in or near New York City.

Favorite experience at Cortland: Becoming an EOP student was my favorite experience. I am proud to be part of a supportive community that has helped me succeed academically.

Ashley Upson

Major: Healthcare Management

Favorite professor/class: My favorite class was Human Sexuality with Dr. Reichel because it was interactive, engaging, and something I looked forward to every day.

Plans after graduation: I plan to pursue my master’s degree in health services administration at Russell Sage College while working part-time.

Favorite experience at Cortland: Being part of the club basketball team helped me build meaningful connections both on and off the court.

Faith Bauer

Major: Health Education Certification PreK-12

Favorite professor/class: My favorite class was Mental Health and Counseling because it taught me how to better understand, support, and connect with others.

Plans after graduation: I plan to pursue a Health Education teaching position.

Favorite experience at Cortland: Living with my eight closest friends has been my favorite experience, creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Adriana Bifolco

Major: Health Education Certification PreK-12

Favorite professor/class: I truly cannot pick just one favorite. Each class brought new ideas and growth, and every professor showed genuine care. I am especially grateful to Dr. Reichel, Dr. Curtis, and Dr. Moyer for their support and dedication.

Plans after graduation: I hope to travel and immerse myself in new cultures while working toward becoming a health educator.

Favorite experience at Cortland: Joining the Taekwondo Club was my favorite experience, providing lifelong friendships and balance in my physical, mental, and social well-being.

Ellie Priscott

Major: Healthcare Management

Favorite professor/class: My favorite class was Introduction to Health Informatics and Communication with Dr. Blavos. The projects and research were directly applicable to my internships and fieldwork, and the class remained engaging—even at 8:30 a.m.

Plans after graduation: I plan to work locally in the Cortland area in a role that allows me to combine my interests in academics and healthcare.

Favorite experience at Cortland: Being a Wellness PEER Educator was a highlight. It helped me build confidence in public speaking and connect classroom learning to real-world experiences.
