ACE Guide To Choosing a College PPT Series

ACE is in the process of developing a series of PowerPoint (PPT) presentations to assist in your journey of choosing a college. During these online experiences for both ACE students and family members, you will learn helpful tools and tips you can apply throughout your college planning experience and beyond. 

Presentation topics include:

Choosing a College (released summer 2020)

Organizing Your Search (released summer 2020)

College Visit Preparation: Organization and Example Questions (NEW: released summer 2022)

Self-Care and the College Search (NEW: released summer 2022)

Financing College (pending)

Picking a Roommate (pending)

Making Your Decision (pending)

Instructions for ACE participation:

  1. Sign-up through Formstack (one time for all PPTs) by deadline
  2. ACE will email the presentations and supplemental resources
  3. Review the PPTs on your own time
  4. Confirm your "attendance" by filling out the reflective evaluation. To receive one participation credit, you will need to review two PPT presentations.
  5. Note:  If you have previously signed up for the PPT Series, you do not need to reapply.

Registration: Complete the ACE Online Form (preferred) or contact us directly via email at ace@cortland.edu.  

Each presentation will contain a PPT and Slides version for your convenience and include additional handouts and resources associated with the educational topic. You only need to register for this series once. When new presentations are added, you will automatically receive the resources.

Post Event Instructions:  After reviewing a PPT, students will be prompted to complete a reflective evaluation.  

Audience: All ACE Students and Family Members

Program Type: Educational Workshops are planned ACE events for students and family members. Each program offers college-readiness topics related to exploring academic interest, career exploration, academic and personal skill development, college application and financial resources, and the college transition.
