Sandwich Seminar: Vibe Coding AI Learning Tools

Oct 29, 2026 12:00pm – 1:00pm Old Main Colloquium (Room 220)

Generative AI can be a powerful tutor, offering students opportunities to practice, receive immediate feedback, and work through difficult concepts. Unfortunately, when students simply ask a general-purpose chatbot for tutoring help, the results are often inaccurate, poorly aligned with course content, or focused on the wrong skills.

In this one-hour workshop, participants will learn about "vibe coding" with AI and use it to create simple, course-specific learning tools that keep AI-supported practice grounded in course learning objectives and disciplinary expertise. We'll look at examples such as practice activities, simulations, sorting and classification tools, retrieval exercises, and guided feedback tools that can be embedded directly into a course. We will share the CTL learning tool creator that will walk you through the process of building these tools and ensuring they are aligned with your course learning outcomes.

No coding experience is required! Please bring a laptop!
