Every Moment Matters: Understanding Trauma & Building Resilient Classrooms (Fall 2026)
This interactive professional learning session will provide a foundational understanding of childhood trauma and its impact on learning, behavior, and relationships. Participants will explore the science of trauma and the brain, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma-informed educational practices, culturally responsive-sustaining education (CRSE), and practical strategies for creating safe, supportive learning environments. Through discussion, reflection, and evidencebased practices, attendees will strengthen their ability to respond to students with empathy, foster resilience, and build positive relationships that promote student success.
This session will be open to about 150 undergraduate students, their professors and support staff, and their school-based mentors.
