This Fall 2026 Book Club centers on Relationship Rich Education: How Human Connections Drive Success in College by Peter Felten and Leo M. Lambert. The book makes the case that authentic, sustained relationships — between students and faculty, staff, and peers — are one of the strongest predictors of student learning, belonging, and persistence in higher education. Drawing on research and campus case studies, the authors offer practical ways instructors and institutions can build a culture where relationships are treated as central to the educational mission, not incidental to it.

CTL provides a free copy of the book to every participant. Participants will read the book alongside colleagues from across campus and meet to discuss its ideas and how they might apply at Cortland.
