No events will be held on campus through July

04/21/2020

In response to the continued coronavirus threat, SUNY Cortland is canceling all in-person campus summer programs and events through the end of July, 2020. This includes student orientation, sports camps and events held on campus by outside groups.

All undergraduate and many graduate courses will be held in an online-only format. A decision on how hybrid graduate classes (part online and part in-person) will be handled is under discussion and will be announced soon.

“This was a very difficult decision to make, but one that we felt was absolutely necessary to protect the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and members of the surrounding community,” SUNY Cortland President Erik J. Bitterbaum said. “We are essentially extending our current remote learning operations through July.”

More than 100 distance education summer offerings are available through the Office of Extended Learning. These include nearly 40 online undergraduate courses that fulfill general education requirements and 14 courses that fulfill writing-intensive requirements. More information is available at Cortland.edu/offices/summer-session.

Orientation for incoming first-year and transfer students this summer will be conducted remotely through online components and WebEx meetings. Learn more from the Office of Advisement and Transition.

Summer sports camps originally scheduled for June and July will be canceled or postponed. Questions should be addressed to the coaches running each individual camp.

SUNY Cortland Commencement 2020 will not be held on campus as scheduled. Alternatives are being discussed and a new plan will be announced soon.

Local schools and community organizations will not be allowed to use SUNY Cortland facilities through July, including athletic fields.
