    Free breakfast for all SUNY Cortland students.

  • PAWS for Stress Relief
    Monday, May 6, and Tuesday, May 7 | Noon – 4 p.m.
    Student Life Center 3-Court Gym
    Enjoy time with dogs, games, arts and crafts and snacks.

Get help when you need it: The Learning Center

Don’t wait until the last minute to get help. The Learning Center has many great resources to assist you. Check out their comprehensive list of resources to help you with everything from learning and note-taking tips to online learning. You can also access these helpful services:

  • Nightowl night-time and online tutoring is available Sundays through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to midnight for a variety of subjects. 
  • Professional Tutoring is available in-person and online for writing, math, reading, chemistry, study skills, time management, or test taking. To work with a professional tutor, please call 607-753-4309, email TLC@cortland.edu, or stop by the office in Van Hoesen B-205.
  • Supplemental Instruction (SI) offers peer-led, collaborative study groups. The in-person drop-in review sessions integrate how to learn with what to learn for each covered course. See the SI schedule.
  • Peer Tutoring provides online and in-person support in a variety of courses, including many of the challenging 100-200 level courses. Make an appointment at cortland.edu/peer-tutoring/

Utilize the Writing Center

Did you know there is a writing center on campus, and you can access them in-person or online? The consultants at the writing center are ready to work with you as you start, continue, or finish your semester writing projects. Their aim is to get you closer to done.

Click to book an appointment or access their schedule by: 

  1. Logging in to myRedDragon
  2. Going to the "Student" tab
  3. Following the "WCOnline" link (under Academic Resources)

Note: If a day on our schedule is booked, you can add your name to the waitlist. If there's a cancellation for that day, you will be notified so that you can sign up for it.

Access Research Help in the Library

Did you know that Research Help is available in the main lobby of the library? Tackle your final papers with a librarian, who can help you find, access, or cite sources for your paper. Librarians can also help you evaluate whether the sources you have found would be suitable for your paper. For quick questions, you can visit the library tab of myRedDragon to chat 24/7 with a librarian, or click the Ask a Librarian dragon button in many of our databases. You can also Make a Research Help Appointment with a librarian that specializes in your area of study if you need specialized or more extensive help.

Self-care resources

SUNY Cortland students have free access to Uwill, an online mental health resource that caters to college students. They can immediately schedule a 30-minute telehealth appointment with a licensed provider on their own schedule, including nights and weekends.

The Counseling Center offers many other helpful self-care resources. Review the "Mind and Body Compassion Handout (PDF)" and try some of the exercises to increase relaxation and a sense of well-being. The Rest, Recharge and Re-energize through Mindfulness Meditation (PDF) resource contains multiple links to various meditation options to help you throughout your day.
