Campus introduces incentive for student pool testing

02/23/2021

SUNY Cortland is adding a new pool testing incentive for students — monthly raffles and a grand prize drawing for students who participate each week.

Highlights of the new program include:

  • Monthly prizes: Students who participate in all weekly pool tests each month will be entered into a drawing for Cortland prizes. Two drawings will take place at the end of each month — one for campus residents and one for off-campus students. Winners will be selected for February, March and April.

  • Grand prize: Consistent monthly pool testing participation also will earn an entry into an end-of-semester prize drawing for a semester’s worth of free textbooks from the Campus Store. Graduating students will be eligible for items of similar value if they win. One grand prize winner will be selected.

  • Entries: Students who complete all monthly testing requirements will earn one entry in each monthly drawing and one entry each month for the grand prize drawing.

  • Other eligibility: Students who cannot test are eligible to participate, including students who test positive for COVID-19 during the spring semester or students who are required to quarantine. These students must have reported for all weekly testing appointments prior to their positive test or outside of their quarantine. They should email Marinda Souva, associate director for transition programs, to express their interest in participating and note the week they tested positive or were required to quarantine.

Winners of raffle prizes will be notified through their SUNY Cortland email. Organized by the university’s Engagement Committee, the program is sponsored by the Campus Store.

SUNY Cortland continues to use regular testing of all campus residents and off-campus students as a valuable tool in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Since the start of the spring semester, the university has administered more than 15,000 campus tests in the Student Life Center.
