What do you get when you combine the skill and grace of women’s gymnastics with the hand-to-hand combat of collegiate wrestling?

You get SUNY Cortland’s’ first-ever "Beauty and the Beast" combined gymnastics and wrestling athletic event.

The dual meet, in which a gymnastics competition and a wrestling competition will be held simultaneously in Corey gymnasium, is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m.

Cortland's gymnastics team will take on Southern Connecticut State. Its wrestlers will compete against SUNY Oswego. The combined format has been used successfully in recent years by Division I schools such as Boise State, Brown, Iowa State and Maryland.

SUNY Cortland students, faculty and staff are free with their college ID, and all children 12 and under are also admitted free. Tickets for the general public are $4 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and non-SUNY Cortland students with ID.

In addition, a Cortland Kids' Club event will be held in the back gymnasium across the hallway from Corey Gym from 12:30-2:30 p.m., and a t-shirt toss will be held during the main event.
