Awards and Fellowships

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) funds grants and supports faculty applying for internal and external awards. We advertise internal and SUNY-level awards and fellowships, mentor applicants, and connect applicants to previous award winners.

Below, you will find a list of some internal and SUNY-level awards and fellowships related to teaching and learning. This list will update regularly. CTL Faculty Associates

In fall 2025, the CTL will begin a search for two CTL Faculty Associates:

  • CTL Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Research (SoTL) Faculty Associate
  • CTL Open Educational Resources (OER) Faculty Associate

Faculty associates will run Teaching and Learning Communities on their area of support and work one-on-one with faculty across Cortland to support their work in developing Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Research and Open Educational Resources. 

Each associate will receive $1400 for 40 hours of work per semester (fall and spring). These positions are renewable. Applications will begin August 25, 2025 and remain open until September 15, 2025. The CTL will interview the top two candidates for each Associate position and make a decision on the postings by October 1. 

Course Redesign Grants

Universal Design for Learning Course Redesign Grant

Ten faculty will be supported to work with the CTL and SUNY Accessibility Fellow Carrie Rood as part of a Teaching and Learning  Community and course redesign. Each participant will receive a $1000 grant to participate in the Teaching and Learning Community and to redesign one of their courses to incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) teaching strategies. Faculty will be responsible for assessing the impact of their course redesign, providing a reflection on the impact, and presenting their findings at an upcoming Conference on Teaching and Learning. 

Applications will open August 25 and remain open until September 8. This community will meet for two hours each month in October, November, December, January, February, March, and April. 

Belonging Redesign Grant

Ten faculty will be supported over the summer to work on redesigning courses to include Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (DEISJ) theory into their course design. This redesign grant requires faculty to attend summer workshops on issues related to DEISJ and work together to design/redesign materials to foster a sense of belonging in their classroom. Faculty will be responsible for assessing the impact of their course redesign, providing a reflection on the impact, and presenting their findings at an upcoming Conference on Teaching and Learning.  More information on this grant will be coming in January 2026.

Teaching Awards and Grants
