SUNY Cortland welcomes students impacted by the College of St. Rose's closing. The campuses have entered into a teach-out agreement that looks to ensure a smooth transfer process for students following the 2024-25 academic year.

Do I need to submit an application?
Yes, all College of Saint Rose students seeking the teach-out agreement must apply as new transfer students. They must submit a transfer application. The regular $50 application fee will be waived. When submitting your application, please select the application fee waiver option. Applicants should contact the Admissions Office to verify their application has been processed appropriately.

How will my College of Saint Rose credits transfer?
SUNY Cortland is committed to working with College of Saint Rose students in an effort to accept as many transfer credits as possible. Each course will be reviewed individually. Contact the Admissions Office at 607-753-4711 to learn more about the transfer credit evaluation process.
I am an AOE Program student. Who should I contact at SUNY Cortland?
SUNY Cortland wants to work with students in the Academic Opportunity Experience Program who are interested in the Educational Opportunity Program at Cortland.

Is campus housing available?
Yes, all new students are guaranteed access to campus housing.
Students may be exempt from the housing requirement if they are one of the following:
- 21 or older by Aug. 31, 2024
- Commuting from home (maximum 50-mile radius)
- Married
- Military veteran
All requests to live off campus must be approved by the Residence Life and Housing Office.
Are transfer students common at SUNY Cortland?
Yes, approximately 800 new transfer students choose SUNY Cortland each year, including roughly 600 each fall.
Several resources are available for student support:
Orientation takes place during the summer for students starting in the fall semester or during the winter for students enrolling in the spring. It’s where students receive their first course schedule, meet other new students and learn strategies for a successful start.
COR 201 is an introductory one-credit seminar covering life at SUNY Cortland. This class can help familiarize transfer students with the offices and services that can help in their transition to campus.
The Transfer Network Team can match transfer students with others who already have transferred to SUNY Cortland. They are available to offer their own tips and advice.
