LeighMarie Weber, a senior from Williston Park, New York, is the Student Government Association President for the 2013-2014 Academic School Year. Leigh is studying Speech and Hearing Science with a minor in Social Gerontology.
Leigh became involved with SGA within the first two days of stepping foot on campus her freshman year. She started out as a senator, and was quickly moved up to the executive board as the parliamentarian that November of her freshman year. During her sophomore year, Leigh received the role of the executive assistant to the president, where she created and planned the very successful event of Fall Fest. Her junior year she served as the president and loved every minute of it. Being President allowed Leigh to appreciate things in life that she hadn’t in the past. To watch herself and her peers grow as individuals and become better leaders on this campus was beyond rewarding for her.
Through this organization, Leigh has found her true passion in life which is of course helping others. Upon graduation Leigh plans on attending graduate school to peruse a master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration. Leigh looks forward to another fantastic year working with the faculty, administration and students to make SUNY Cortland an even better place to be!
