
Each spring, SUNY Cortland recognizes students for their academic achievements at the annual Honors Convocation. Students in the top five percent of their class are acknowledged and awards and scholarships are presented at the ceremony. The 2012 Honors Convocation will take place on Saturday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in the Park Center Alumni Arena. Honors Convocation is an official college ceremony. Students are asked to wear professional attire.
Top Five Percent Recognition
Students in the top five percent of their class will be notified in late February 2012. Invitations and letters from the President's Office are mailed to students and parents, respectively. Students in the top five percent are asked to R.S.V.P. by Friday, April 6, 2012, to Darci Bacigalupi, special events coordinator at darci.bacigalupi@cortland.edu or by calling (607) 753-5453.
Top Five Percent Honors for 2012
Freshmen - GPA range of 3.73 to 4.11
Sophomores - GPA range of 3.75 to 4.14
Juniors - GPA range of 3.85 to 4.30
Seniors - GPA range of 3.84 to 4.23
Awards and Scholarships
Awards and Scholarships that are presented at Honors Convocation will be determined in early March. Students will be notified by the department or office that sponors the award. Students should follow the R.S.V.P. instructions provided in the notification letter. Please R.S.V.P. no later than Friday, April 6, 2012, so that adequate arrangements can be made.
Reception
A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony for all students, guests, faculty and staff.
Please note: There are several academic events occurring the weekend of Honors Convocation, including various honor society inductions. Students will need to R.S.V.P. to events individually as indicated on each invitation.
