Fall 2017 - March 2018

1. Meet with your advisor to verify eligibility for graduation.

2. Apply to graduate using myRedDragon.

Once at myRedDragon, do the following:

  1. Type in ID and password
  2. Select “Student" tab and go to the Registrar column
  3. Select “Degree Conferral and Commencement”
  4. Select “Apply for Degree Conferral”

February 2018

Students who have not yet applied for a degree on myRedDragon should do so by March 1 and follow the instructions above. Applying for a degree by March 1 allows a student's name to appear in the Commencement program.

February 2018

Students will receive an email to their Cortland email address about the online ticketing process where they will select their ceremony time and purchase all items needed for Graduation. Students will select their ceremony online beginning Date and Time TBD

Items to consider purchasing:

  • Cap and gown
  • Class ring
  • Diploma cover (Will be purchased for $11.50 through the online ticketing process and linked to your Student Line-Up Ticket)
  • Diploma frame
  • Personalized graduation announcements
  • Flowers
  • Alumni memorabilia

March 2018

Students who have missed the March 1st deadline can still apply for graduation, but must do so as soon as possible. Students will select their ceremony time online beginning Date and Time TBD.  

Please remember, students who apply for their degree and/or indicate participation in Commencement after the March deadline will NOT appear in the printed ceremony program.

April - May 2018

1. Check email account, myRedDragon announcements and the Commencement website frequently for the latest Commencement news.

2. Clear up any outstanding obligations (holds) with the College, such as Library fees, parking tickets, etc. A diploma can not be issued unless all obligations are cleared.

May 7 - 11, 2018

Students who miss the filing deadline to register for Commencement must apply on myRedDragon and contact the Special Events Office to receive their tickets.  

Students who apply for their degree and/or indicate participation in Commencement after the March 1 deadline will NOT appear in the printed ceremony program.

May 11, 2018

1. Attend rehearsal Friday, May 11 at 2:30 p.m. in the Park Center Alumni Arena. Instructions for the day of the ceremony, including line-up procedures, will be provided. All candidates for graduation are encouraged to attend. Rehearsal will last approximately 30 minutes.

2. If applicable, pick up honors tassels at the Registrar's Office or the day of ceremony.

May 11 and 12, 2018

Undergraduates attending Ceremony 1 report at 8:30 a.m. wearing gowns. Undergraduates attending Ceremony 2 report at 1:30 p.m. wearing gowns. Undergraduates attending Ceremony 3 report at 6 p.m. wearing gowns. All graduates must remember to bring their student ticket for entry into the gym.
