As a charter signatory of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, SUNY Cortland is committed to reducing energy use, ending our contribution to the destruction of the environment and the social injustice caused by uncontrolled climate change. We recently received a Silver rating in Sustainability Tracking and Reporting System (STARS) from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

We have demonstrated our commitment to sustainability with our LEED construction building designs, our electric vehicles, and our sustainable partnerships as well as naturalization efforts like our "No Mow" Zone, propane buses and outdoor programs at the Outdoor Education Center at Raquette Lake.
The Greenrep Program is designed to promote sustainability education and environmental awareness in the residence halls on the SUNY Cortland campus. A team of 16 individuals are hired as "Green Reps" each semester to educate the campus in all facets of sustainability.
