Writing Resource Center

Welcome to the Writing Resource Center. The Writing Resource Center describes SUNY Cortland's Composition (CPN) and Writing-Intensive (WI) course requirements and provides Students and faculty with a wealth of information about writing.

On this Web site, students will find the Cortland Composition Handbook, advice on how to avoid plagiarism and uphold the value of academic integrity, statements about the types of writing required in various departments, an explanation of where to go for tutoring and academic support, links to on- and off-campus resources that will help improve writing, and guidelines for submitting work to the annual college writing contest. 

The Writing Resource Center provides faculty with information about the College Writing Committee, detailed guidelines for teaching writing in the from of the Manual for Writing Across the Curriculum, the form for applying for writing-intensive course designation, advice for obtaining tutors and other academic support for students, tips for preventing and detecting plagiarism, a list of Web sites offering quality resources for teaching writing, and links to the Writing Fellows Program, the Faculty Writing Group, and the Seven Valleys Writing Project.  The site also offers a complete version of the Handbook for Composition Faculty.

We hope the Writing Resource Center helps you with writing assignments and answers your questions about writing.  We're always looking for ways we can improve what we offer so please be sure to send us your feedback.The Writing Resource Center is published by the SUNY Cortland English Department.
